High-End Tourism, Great Beaches and Vibrant Music Scene

Anguilla is a British overseas territory and overseas territory of the European Union in the Caribbean. It is one of the most northerly of the Leeward Islands in the Lesser Antilles, lying east of Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands and directly north of Saint Martin. The territory consists of the main island of Anguilla itself, approximately 26 km (16 mi) long by 5 km (3.1 mi) wide at its widest point, together with a number of much smaller islands and cays with no permanent population. The island's capital is The Valley. The total land area of the territory is 91 km2 (35 sq mi), with a population of approximately 13,500 (2006 estimate).

Anguilla has become high end-resort, and a popular tax haven, having no capital gains, estate, profit or other forms of direct taxation on either individuals or corporations.

Bankie Banx, the musician feature in the left column, has played with the likes of Bob Dylan, Jimmie Buffett, the Marleys, and others. He was recently featured on the TV Show, "The Bachelor". He still lives on the island, on the beach at Rendevous Bay, which he has fought to keep in its natural state. He has a restaurant there, called the Dune Preserve, and he makes sculptures out of driftfood and rocks, as below.....

5 Star Resorts in Anguilla

There are four 5 star resorts in Anguilla, a lot for such a tiny island. They include Cap Juluca, CusinArt Resort and Spa, Viceroy Hotel and Spa, and the oldest, Malliouhana Resort. A few have golf courses......Cap Juluca, pictured above, is especially spectacular, with the Greco-Moorish architecture...one expects to see Ali Baba and his 40 thieves, riding down the beach, but not, that is just the waiter!.....
